Propeller Repair Services in Trinidad and Tobago

The owners of a unique-purpose vessel found themselves grappling with intense propeller vibrations while navigating the waters in the Guyana region. They turned to FN Diving for delivering expert underwater propeller repair solutions.

Our specialised team flew in boarded the vessel for a thorough underwater inspection while it was anchored in Trinidad. This inspection as expected unveiled substantial damage to two propellers – six blades were fractured and an additional four propeller blades had bent due to debris encountered in the river. The propellers, measuring 4600MM, were seriously compromised.

In typical circumstances, a cold straightening approach would be taken to repair the blades. However, the extent of the damage coupled with the ship’s tunneling structure around the propellers rendered this strategy ineffective.

In an effort to keep the vessel’s downtime to an absolute minimum, FN Diving chose to trim the damage in such a way that the propellers would still fulfil their hydrodynamic duties effectively.

The underwater technicians  calculated and removed all damages, eliminating the vessel’s vibration issue, and allowing it to resume operations until it could be dry-docked.

Staying true to the scheduled timeline, all the blades were trimmed and hydrodynamical reformed, enabling the vessel to resume its voyage without delay.

The success and precision of the operation can be attributed to the seamless collaboration between the FN Diving team and the ship’s crew. This synergy resulted in a cost-effective and time-efficient No Nonsens repair, restoring the vessel to operational condition.

We would like to extend our gratitude to all parties who played a crucial role in this operation.

We stand ready to provide unparalleled propeller repair services to vessels in Trinidad and Tobago and beyond.
